  1. My husband and I are Germans living in California. We speak only German at home and our kids had to learn English in kindergarden and when they entered in grade school. It was not easy for them but they leaned fast and today they speak German and English perfectly. If you two live in USA, I’d recommend you speak only Spanish at home. If you live in Columbia, you speak only English with your kids. This I am sure will work and will not confuse your kids. They know they live in two worlds, one is home and one is school, play etc. and they will find their way without much problems. Just – food for thought = make it easy on your kids!!!!

  2. We raised our 3 kids bilingual. Smart doctors know bilingual kids tend to talk later. Don’t worry about it.
I homeschooled them and used the Five in a Row curriculum for preschool and Kinder. That curriculum has you read the same book 5 days in a row, hence the name. Excellent book list even if you don’t use the curriculum. If the book existed in Spanish, I would read it in Spanish 2 or 3/5 days. They would start to notice how things aren’t always word for word. My husband made them learn to read in English first since it’s harder then Spanish. But kids turn out fine. Don’t worry.
