There is a problem with the present-present conditional at least as far as the English translation is concerned. I think the difference is between a general example and a specific example. For example, we would say “If you exercise your life will be better.” when we are giving advice to someone but we could say, speaking generally, “Life is better if you exercise”. Likewise “If you work hard you will make more money” but “People who work hard make more money” (although that is not how I understand the world works!). The implication of what you are saying is that you can express both ideas in Spanish with two present tense verbs, which is different from English.

Entonces, en mi humilde opinión el condicional es un jardín de infantes. Pero, yo siempre me preguntaba sobre cómo podría ser que un verbo se cambia al subjuntivo imperfecto inmediatamente dispués del ”si” en el condicional de las tipos 3 y 4 (la gradación cual es de acuerdo con esto episodio) , pero queda su forma en el presente indicativo cuando usamos el condicional de los tipos 1 y 2. Es decir, el presente más presente/futuro simple/el modo imperativo = no hay ningún cambio, no para nada, aunque tenemos la palabra ”si”. ¿¿¡¡Cómo puede ser?!!? Por fin, por fin es claro. Por favor corregirme si me equivoco, pues, mi teoría : utilizamos el subjuntivo sencillamente por que no tenemos la ciencia cierta, digo, nosotros expresamos hipotéticamente, como usted dije – hablábamos sobre una situación imaginaria. Simple y sencillo como eso. Ojalá yo me he hecho entender. Y el otro punto que todavía me molesta es cual sería tradución en español de estas oraciones: if they paid me less, I would not be WORKING here / if I had known that you felt sick, I would not have been WORKING that day. ¿ Que pasa con todos los gerundios ?Gracias de verdad, gracias grandísimas por prestarnos su tiempo.
This is one of my most favorite episodes. Primarily because Nate is so involved and he is correctly answering many of they questions you ask him. I listen to “Episodio 134 – Los Condicionales | 4 Tipos Importantes” repeatedly.
Andrea your questions to Nate are so painful to listen to. Your sentence phrasing/structuring is, interesting. I do not know how to propelry describe how your english is correct, but so not right.
